This
boat has been built to withstand the abuse
thrown at it by the Bahamian commercial fisherman.
Foamed and self bailing, this boat has been
designed with hull strength and integrity
in mind, however it is not dependant on the
below deck foam for structural integrity.
The stringers and deck are made of high density
PVC foam sandwich completely encapsulated
in a high strength fiberglass lamination schedule
The lamination schedule of this boat allows
for multiple overlaps of material across the
keel line, as well as the lift and outer chines.
This overkill of material does make the 17'
Freeport Skiff heavier than the average boat
in this size range, however the added weight
and hull rigidity make for a superior ride
and general hull stability in rough sea conditions.
An excellent boat for bays, inland waters,
and coastal cruising. These boats are often
used in The Bahamas for fishing up to 50 miles
from port on the shallow banks for lobster,
as well as the deep water for tuna. |
